Starbucks Sizes Explained: Short, Tall, Grande, Venti & Trenta

Starbucks sizes are Short (8 fl oz), Tall (12 fl oz), Grande (16 fl oz), Venti (20 fl oz hot or 24 fl oz iced) and Trenta (30 fl oz, iced only). Tall is Starbucks’ small, Grande is medium and Venti is large. Espresso is also served in a tiny Demi cup.

Why Is “Tall” the Smallest Size on the Menu?
When Starbucks started, it sold Short, Tall and Grande. As larger drinks became popular, Venti was added and Short was dropped from the menu board, leaving Tall as the smallest listed size. You can still order a Short for most hot drinks. “Grande” means large in Italian, and “Venti” means twenty, after the 20-ounce hot cup.

A hot Venti latte has the same two shots as a Grande, just more milk, while an iced Venti gets a third shot. If you want a stronger drink without a bigger size, ask for an extra shot.
Which Drinks Come in Trenta?
Trenta is available only for certain iced drinks: iced coffee, cold brew, iced tea, iced tea lemonades and Starbucks Refreshers, including the Pink Drink. Espresso drinks and Frappuccinos do not come in Trenta.
